I had published (copied, in fact) a lot of sex scandal stories. Namely Aylar Dianati Lie from Norway, Tammy from Singapore Polytechnic, Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), Pinay / Pinoy and Duke Lacrosse.

And this is another one, Kerala. Scandal will makes a headline in the newspapers.

The Kerala government today filed an appeal in the High Court, seeking a direction to set aside the Kozhikode trial court order acquitting all the 16 accused in the ice cream parlour sex scandal case, which had rocked the state in 1997.

L R Sathyan, principal assistant sessions judge, Kozhikode, who conducted the trial in the case, had on January 12 this year acquitted the accused, saying the prosecution had failed to prove the charges against them.

The government, in its appeal, stated that a fair trial had not been held. The witnesses were purchased by influential persons to make them give false evidence in the court, it added.

The government also criticised the trial court judge for refusing to question the hostile witnesses which he should have done under Sec. 165 of the Indian Evidence Act. The case was not properly conducted by the special prosecutor, who did not cross-examine the hostile witnesses, it was submitted.
